Sri Lanka is considered a teardrop island. It is a beautiful island with rich wildlife, sun-kissed beaches, beautiful places to visit, and historical places too.
Visitors from Russia who wish to visit Sri Lanka for a short duration for traveling, business, or transit purposes can apply for Sri Lanka eta. It is the best and most convenient way to obtain an electronic travel authorization for Sri Lanka.

Russians do not have to visit an embassy or consulate which takes a lot of time for a traveler.

 

It is an obvious procedure for any foreign traveler to get an electronic travel authorization to visit Sri Lanka. The same goes for Russian citizens. But in case they are looking to work or stay permanently in Sri Lanka then they cannot apply for Sri Lankan ETA.

Three types of Sri Lankan ETAs for which Russian travelers can apply are:

TOURIST ETA
TRANSIT ETA
BUSINESS ETA

The purpose of the visit to Sri Lanka will decide the type of eta a traveler should apply for.

If Russians want to spend some vacations, meet family or relatives or participate in any cultural or sports event, etc can apply for an ETA tourist for Sri Lanka. With this electronic visa for Sri Lanka, a Russian traveler can stay for 30 days or less. And it can also be extended for 180 days in Sri Lanka but make sure ETA is still in the validity period.

If they wish to travel to SriLanka for any business meeting, training seminars, conferences, etc then they can apply for a Business ETA.

Like tourist eta, this one also grants a visitor 30 days of stay that can be extended for up to 6 months within the country if needed.

If Russian travelers are having a connecting flight through Sri Lanka and have a stay at the airport for more than 8 hours then they can apply for a transit eta. This provides a traveler with 48 hours stay and not more than that.

But in case their stay is less than 8 hours then they do not requirea transit ETA for SriLanka. They just have to provide an onward ticket as proof.

Additionally, Russian passport holders who have dual Russian/Sri Lankan citizenship, or anybody younger than 21 who was born abroad to Sri Lankan parents and has been registered in Sri Lanka, do not need to apply for a Sri Lanka visa from Russia.

 

As the process is completely online, Russian citizens do not have to wait for too long to get their electronic travel authorization approved.

It takes only a few minutes to fill in the application form and submit it completely with the payment. Usually, it takes 24 hours to process the ETA for Sri Lanka. Russians also get a priority service in which they get their approved Sri Lankan ETA within an hour.

Sometimes there is a traffic of application forms, it takes more time than usual. So, Russian travelers are advised to apply at least 2 weeks before the intended date of the travel.

Once the electronic visa for Sri Lanka is approved, it is sent directly to the registered email id of the applicant.

 

First look at the things that are required by the Russians to apply for the eta of Sri Lanka;

A valid passport with a validity of 6 months of minimum from the date of arrival in Sri Lanka, issued by the Russian federation.
An active international debit or credit card having sufficient funds to pay the eta application fee.
A correct and valid email id, so that approved Sri Lankan eta can be sent directly there.

Once you are all set with all the requirements, you can start filling in the application form for ETA for Sri Lanka for Russia.

The application form asks you about the basic details like the name of the applicant, DOB, nationality, passport details, contact info, and travel details too.

The applicant has to choose the type of ETA, whether tourist eta for Sri Lanka, business eta for Sri Lanka, or transit eta.

After you are done filling in the application form, check it again all the details then only proceed to the payment page. If any errors or mistakes are found in the form it might delay the approval of the eta or even reject the application.

When the eta Sri Lanka for Russian citizens is approved and sent, then take a printout of the eta and carry it along with you. It might be asked for checking at the immigration office at the entry port.
